How long have you been with The Planet Group?
Riki Nehez: This September will be four years.
How would you describe your career trajectory over that time?
RN: Life at Planet has been a distinct change of pace from my previous role, largely because I now have a family. My priorities have shifted towards nurturing my connections with both former and current clients while managing personal commitments.
National recruitment can be overwhelming, so I have begun to focus on particular industries to deepen my expertise. I’ve immersed myself in the pharmaceutical / biotechnology, beauty/aesthetics, and advertising sectors, establishing myself as an expert in those fields.
What have been some career highlights for you since you've been at Planet Interactive?
RN: I'm really proud of our collaboration with one of our global biopharmaceutical clients. Initially, we were among over 45 vendors servicing the client, but they've narrowed it down to just 17 staffing partners in our space, and we have maintained our status as one of their preferred vendors. Given the scale of their operations and the program's breadth, our continued success stands out as a personal achievement.
What got you interested in the creative and digital sectors in particular?
RN: I went to school for mass communications and journalism which laid the foundation of my creative and marketing background. During the first five years of my professional career, I was in experiential marketing, which is based around creating an experience for consumers.
When I was looking to find a new job opportunity, I went to a staffing company to assist with my search. During the interview process to become a candidate, the staffing agency was looking to bring on an internal Account Manager, so I took a leap of faith to switch my career path and began working for the staffing agency. In a way, it came around full circle. My background in marketing has enabled me to effectively partner with my clients.
What advice would you give to individuals aspiring to enter the recruitment industry?
RN: I would say that it’s important to remain curious and adaptable. The digital/creative landscape is ever-changing, and a desire to continuously learn is crucial for engaging in deeper, more strategic conversations with clients. Embracing adaptability is important because it will help you thrive in the industry in general. Navigating the ups and downs of staffing can be like a roller coaster!
How have The Planet Group and Planet Interactive supported you in achieving your personal and professional goals?
RN: That’s a good question. I work closely with Abigail, the EVP at Planet Interactive. She genuinely invests time in understanding what’s important to me on a personal and professional level. My primary goal is to provide for my family, and together, we have strategized how to achieve that.
Recently, we reviewed my clients. It's crucial to periodically gain a fresh perspective on where my clients stand and their business trajectory. Abigail's questions are invaluable, enabling me to grasp my clients' needs better and support their business growth effectively.
So professionally, I have leadership that not only encourages my professional advancement but also respects my role as a mother.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?
RN: That’s a tough question because I’ve traveled a decent amount. I would have to say I would love to go to Central Europe, specifically to Austria, Switzerland, or Hungary. That region seems to be breathtaking, and I’m Hungarian, so I’d love to get in better touch with my cultural roots.
Can you tell us a couple of your hobbies?
RN: I would say that they’re related to travel. No destination is complete without trying the local cuisine, no matter how unusual it may be. For instance, when I went to Iceland, I tried Hákarl, which is a traditional local delicacy of fermented shark. It is an acquired taste for sure!
I also like doing adventurous, outdoor things. I’ve gone skydiving, whitewater rafting, cave rappelling, etc. I’ve embraced it all.
Lastly, what’s the best part of your job?
RN: Honestly, I’d say it’s the connections I’ve made with my clients and colleagues. I’ve had the opportunity to build such strong relationships with my clients, staying updated on their professional wins, family milestones, birthday celebrations, and travels. And with my colleagues, our team continues to grow stronger as we get to know each other, which contributes to the overall enjoyment and fulfillment of our work.
